COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- The South Carolina State Fair had about 10,000 more visitors this year.
Fair officials told The State of Columbia that 452,576 people came through the gates at the fairgrounds in Columbia during the 11 days of the fair, which ended Sunday.
Organizers credited good weather. The fair was dry except for some drizzle in the evening one day.
Officials say they were especially pleased with the increased attendance since the fair sold fewer advance tickets this year.
The record attendance for the State Fair was 492,395 in 2010.
