AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- Reports of smoke and ash are coming from a mulch fire at Burton Brother Grinding and Mulch on Gordon Highway in Richmond County.

The fire burned all day and night Tuesday and is out, Roger Burton said. It was still smoldering and smoking around noon on Wednesday, Burton said.

Columbia County Emergency and Operations Division is getting calls about heavy smoke in Martinez and Columbia Road areas, Pam Tucker said. This was the same smoke and fire they found out about yesterday, she said.

The fire will continue until rain can stop it, she said. The Environmental Protection Division says they did not approve this burn and they will be following through with enforcement.
