BENOUVILLE, France (AP) -- For the first time since the crisis in Ukraine erupted earlier this year, President Barack Obama has met face-to-face with Russia's Vladimir Putin.

They spoke about Ukraine during a 15-minute conversation on the sidelines of a lunch for world leaders today in France, where they were marking the 70th anniversary of the D-Day invasion.

The U.S. and Russia are offering few details of the talks, but a Russian spokesman says they agreed on the need to end fighting quickly.
