COLLEGE PARK, Ga. (AP) -- Authorities say a police officer has been shot just south of Atlanta, but the wound is not expected to be life-threatening.

Fulton County police Cpl. Kay Lester tells The Atlanta Journal-Constitution the officer "is believed to be OK."

Lester said the shooting happened Thursday morning on White City Road near College Park, just inside the Interstate 285 perimeter.

Lester said she did not yet have any details on what led to the officer's shooting, and did not know if a suspect was in custody.
