Mourners remember 2 boys killed in Ga. boating crash

Tuesday, July 3, 2012

SUWANEE, Ga. (AP) -- Hundreds of people gathered to say goodbye to two brothers killed in a boating accident on Lake Lanier.

The emotional service Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Suwanee came two weeks after 13-year-old Griffin Prince and his 9-year-old brother Jake were killed when a fishing boat rammed their pontoon boat.

WAGA-TV reports that officers who worked on the case and divers who searched more than a week for Griffin's body were among those in attendance.

A written statement from the boys' family says they are grateful for the outpouring of love and support they have received since the crash.

Authorities have charged Paul J. Bennett, 44, of Cumming with boating under the influence in the June 18 crash. A criminal investigation is ongoing.
