ATLANTA (AP) -- Georgia utility companies report that more than 252,000 customers in the state were still without power Thursday evening after a storm blanketed the region with snow and ice.
Georgia Power said about 148,400 customers were without service as of 6:30 Thursday evening in nearly 2,500 outages throughout the state.
Also, the state's electric membership cooperatives, or EMCs, say that about 103,745 of their customers were without power as of Thursday evening. Authorities say power has been restored to more than 175,315 customers of the EMCs since the storm began.
The numbers have been fluctuating as crews restored power and new outages were reported.
