TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. (AP) -- Police say a man dressed as a pirate faces charges after they say he fought with a teenager in a bloody brawl involving a knife on a pier over the Atlantic Ocean.
Tybee Island police say 40-year-old Joe Curtis Chatman is accused of throwing the 18-year-old from his bicycle and tossing the bike over the side of the pier early Sunday, during the annual Pirate Fest.
The Savannah Morning News reports that the teen managed to take a replica black powder pistol and a knife from the adult. Police say he used the knife to keep Chatman at bay before a police officer ordered the teen at gunpoint to drop it.
Chatman, of Avondale Estates, faces a felony aggravated assault charge. It wasn't known whether he has an attorney.
