Greenville police shot at suspect 24 times

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) -- Investigators say a man shot to death last month in the parking lot of the Greenville County Law Enforcement Center threatened to kill two officers and showed them a glue gun made to look like a real firearm.
Authorities said Wednesday that 31-year-old Wesley Swilling of Mauldin threw a baseball at a Greenville police officer around 3 a.m. Jan. 14, then when the officer turned, told him he was going to kill him.
Investigators say Swilling was holding what looked like a pistol, but ended up being a glue gun wrapped in black tape.
Authorities say Swilling kept coming at them even after he was shot. The officers fired 24 bullets and seven of them hit the suspect.
A police review board has determined the shooting was justified.
