COLEMAN, Fla. -- The man who impersonated a member of the U.S. military has died in a federal prison.

According to the Federal Bureau of Prison's website, 38-year-old Anthony Todd Saxon died while serving his sentence. Prison officials confirmed Saxon was at The Federal Correctional Institution in central Florida. It is a low security facility housing male inmates. There is no word at this time on what led to his death.

In May of 2011, a federal judge sentenced Saxon to 57 months behind bars. Saxon had to also pay a $2,000 fine.

The time in prison comes after Saxon pleaded guilty to pretending to be a member of the military. He was able to get onto Fort Gordon and obtain a laser targeting sight.

When police arrested Saxon, he also had inert grenades.

The Associated Press is reporting Saxon apologized in court, saying he acted like a soldier because he had a hard time letting go of the military after being discharged for medical reasons in 1994.

Saxon even deceived his family, saying he was about to be deployed to Afghanistan for a secret mission.
