Ga. candidates with same name run for different roles

Friday, July 6, 2012

DECATUR, Ga. (AP) -- There's potential for voter confusion in DeKalb county where two men named Gregory Adams are running for two separate offices.

County Superior Court Judge Gregory A. Adams is running unopposed for reelection. Gregory Adams, who has no middle initial, is running against incumbent county CEO Burrell Ellis and entrepreneur Jerome Edmondson in the Democratic primary later this month.

Judge Adams has high name recognition. He's held his post for eight years and was a county juvenile court judge for 10 years prior. The juvenile justice center bears his name. He tells the Daily Report he gets frequent calls asking if he's running for CEO.

The CEO candidate Adams is an Army veteran, former DeKalb police officer, pastor and beauty salon owner. He says he corrects people who misidentify him.
