SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) -- U.S. Marshals say a man suspected of stealing pricey watches from jewelry stores in Savannah has been arrested after falling through a celling from the attic he was hiding in.
U.S. Marshals spokesman Tommy Long says authorities were searching a house for 20-year-old Rashamel Gardner Tuesday when he fell through the ceiling and was taken into custody.
Authorities say Gardner was taken to police headquarters to be interviewed shortly after he plummeted from his hiding space.
Investigators have said Gardner is accused of stealing about $42,000 worth of watches from two stores in August.
It's unclear if he has an attorney, and records didn't indicate that he had been book into the Chatham County jail Tuesday night.
