RINCON, Ga. (AP) -- Police say an armed man who barricaded himself in a house in Rincon and held a woman hostage has been killed.
The unidentified man was fatally shot by a SWAT team when he walked onto the porch carrying a gun Friday evening. Authorities say the unidentified woman being held captive was taken to Memorial University Medical Center.
Police say the man was armed with an assault rifle and talked to a hostage negotiator before being shot. The circumstances surrounding the hostage situation were unclear Friday night and additional details are not yet available.
