MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) -- Cobb County District Attorney's officials say a 30-year-old Austell man has been indicted by a grand jury for allegedly beating his 8-week-old son.
District Attorney's Spokeswoman Kim Isaza Wednesday said Joseph Rucker McFall is charged with two counts of child cruelty and two counts of aggravated battery for allegedly shaking and throwing his son between August and October 2012. Isaza says the beatings left the child with multiple broken bones and an acute brain injury that is believed to have blinded the child.
McFall was arrested Oct. 30 and is in the Cobb County Jail on $25,000 bond. An arraignment date has not been set and Isaza says McFall could face a maximum of 80 years in prison.
A message left with McFall's court-appointed attorney was not immediately returned Wednesday.
