Former Ga. deputy pleads guilty in child porn case

Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012

ATLANTA (AP) -- A former Georgia sheriff's deputy has pleaded guilty to charges that he produced child pornography.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports 32-year-old Christopher Thomas Davis entered his plea in U.S. District Court after a jury had been picked to hear his trial. U.S. Attorney Sally Quillian Yates announced the plea Tuesday.

Prosecutors say Davis photographed a 6-year-old girl engaged in sexual conduct at his home in May and June 2009. At the time, he worked as a sheriff's deputy in White County, though Davis has since been fired.

Federal agents in 2011 said they found hundreds of digital images of child pornography in Davis' home.

A judge is scheduled to sentence Davis on Nov. 27. He faces up to 30 years in prison.
