ATLANTA (AP) -- Deer season is just around the corner in Georgia.
Wildlife officials said hunters can take to the woods for firearm season starting Saturday, Oct. 20. The season runs through Jan. 1 in the northern part of the state and through Jan. 15 in the southern half of Georgia. Archery and blackpowder season comes earlier in the year.
More than 1 million acres of public hunting land is available to Georgia hunters. That includes more than 100 state-operated wildlife management areas.
