GREENWOOD, S.C. (AP) -- A former fire coordinator for Greenwood County will spend about four months in prison for having sex with a woman who was incapacitated while he was on the job.
Corey Grumelot accepted a plea deal Friday after four days of testimony in his trial.
Grumelot pleaded guilty to misconduct in office and second-degree assault and battery. He was ordered to spend 120 days in state prison. Grumelot faced up to 20 years in prison if convicted of the original charges against him.
Prosecutors say Grumelot was supposed to take the incapacitated woman to a friend's house, but instead went to a motel room and had sex with her.
Grumelot apologized to his wife and the victim and her family.
