ATLANTA (AP) -- A doctor at the hospital that treated two American aid workers who were infected with the deadly Ebola virus in Africa says their discharge poses no public health risk.

Officials announced the release of Dr. Kent Brantly and Nancy Writebol on Thursday. Brantly left Emory University Hospital on Thursday. Writebol left Tuesday. Family and officials say they're free of the virus.

The husband of an American aid worker released after being treated at an Atlanta hospital for Ebola says she is resting and recuperating at an undisclosed location.

David Writebol says his wife, Nancy, decided it would be best to leave the hospital "privately." An Emory University doctor said during a news conference this morning that the 59-year-old left the hospital Tuesday after tests showed she was free of the deadly virus.

In a statement, David Writebol says his wife "was greatly encouraged knowing that there were so many people around the world lifting prayers to God for her return to health." He calls her recovery "powerful testimony to God's sustaining grace."

They were at the hospital nearly three weeks.

Dr. Bruce Ribner, medical director of the infectious disease unit at the hospital, said at a news conference that their release did not pose a public health risk.

At the news conference, Brantly said it is "a miraculous day."
