COVINGTON, Ga. (AP) -- A driver who died in a head-on crash with a school bus in Newton County has been identified.

Authorities say 21-year-old James Alexander Cooper, of Covington, died when he tried making a left turn in the path of the bus Friday afternoon in Covington -- about 35 miles east of downtown Atlanta.

Sherri Davis-Viniard, Newton County schools spokeswoman, tells the Covington News the bus was carrying students from Indian Creek Middle School. School officials say students were evaluated at the scene and Georgia State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright says one of the 16 students aboard the bus complained of an injury. Details on the student's injury weren't immediately available.

Wright says charges will not be filed in the accident.
