LEXINGTON, S.C. (AP) -- Deputies say a 33-year-old man has been arrested after he threw a 17-month-old boy he was caring for across a room at his Lexington County home.

Investigators said Jason Sightler was watching the toddler last week when the abuse happened. Deputies say Sightler then put the boy in water in a bathtub and shook him violently to try and get him to regain consciousness, causing the toddler to have a seizure.

Authorities say Sightler was watching the child as a favor for the boy's mother. The boy was taken to a hospital and has since been released.

Sightler is charged with inflicting great bodily injury upon a child. He is being held at the Lexington County jail on a $75,000 bond. It wasn't known if he had a lawyer.
