LANCASTER, S.C. (AP) -- Deputies say a Lancaster man left his 2-year-old and 6-month-old children sleeping at home while he went on a beer run.
Investigators said that officers found 26-year-old Christopher Blackmon walking along the side of the road early Tuesday morning after getting a call about an intoxicated moped rider.
Lancaster County deputies say Blackmon told them he ran out of beer and was going to get more, but his moped ran out of gas.
Officers went to Blackmon's home and found the two children asleep, along with beer cans scattered around.
Blackmon has been charged with two counts of illegal neglect of a child. He is in jail awaiting a bond hearing. It wasn't known if he had an attorney.
