ATHENS, Ga. (AP) -- The chairman of the search committee looking for a new president for the University of Georgia has narrowed the field down to a dozen.
But state Board of Regents member and search committee Chairman Larry Walker tells the Athens Banner-Herald that more applicants could be added to the list before the final cuts are made.
Walker says the list includes people who've already been presidents, provosts and deans at other schools and all have backgrounds at big public research institutions. He didn't include any names in his announcement.
The committee is set to meet again next month and hopes to provide a short list of candidates to the Regents in January.
Current UGA President Michael Adams has said he will step down at the end of June.
