CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- An associate athletic director at The Citadel has been suspended after he was arrested and pleaded guilty to soliciting a prostitute.
North Charleston police say 61-year-old Robert Paul Plunkett was arrested nearly a month ago, on Sept. 5. Plunkett is the senior associate athletic director at the military college in Charleston. Court records show he pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge shortly after his arrest.
College Vice President of External Affairs Jeff Perez said Plunkett has been suspended without pay pending a review through the college's discipline policy.
Plunkett graduated from The Citadel in 1973 and was a special assistant to President John Rosa before moving to the athletic department four years ago.
