SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) -- Police in the Savannah area say the wreck of a trailer carrying circus animals has led to the closure of part of an interstate highway.

Savannah-Chatham police spokeswoman Gena Bilbo tells The Savannah Morning News that eastbound lanes of Interstate 516 were closed after the Monday afternoon crash.

Police spokesman Julian Miller says the wreck involved a trailer carrying animals for the UniverSoul Circus.

Video from WSAV-TV shows workers guiding a camel off a trailer at the scene. The video also shows a pony and a llama being transferred from the trailer into another one.

Video from WTOC-TV shows the cab of a semitrailer off the road, and an overturned trailer on the pavement.

The circus company's website says the circus is scheduled to be in Savannah Wednesday through Sunday.
