STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. (AP) -- Police say a young child has been hospitalized after a shooting at a grocery store in metro Atlanta.
DeKalb County Police Chief Cedric Alexander says a good Samaritan tried intervening in a mugging outside a Kroger in Stone Mountain and the suspect later fired between eight and 10 shots into the passerby's car. Police say one of the bullets wounded the man's 2-year-old child in the abdomen.
Witnesses told police they saw the man carry the child with bloodstained shirt into a nearby pharmacy after the shooting.
Police say the child is in stable condition at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston and the man was not injured.
