CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- Firefighters have rescued a 15-year-old boy who fell in a tower of a Charleston church.

Firefighters were called to St. Matthew's Lutheran Church about 7:30 p.m. Sunday after the teen fell in the bell tower during a tour.

Charleston spokesman Mark Ruppel says police, fire and emergency medical services workers were called to the church after the teen could not get down from the tower after the fall.

Police spokesman Charles Francis says the church bells rang during the tour and startled the youth, who fell and dislocated his shoulder.

The teen was treated at the scene and released to his family.
