CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- Authorities say the car in which two Berkeley County women were last seen has been found burned in the Francis Marion National Forest and a female body was found nearby.
Berkeley County Sheriff's spokesman Dan Moon said the Chevy Metro in which 18-year-old Dana Woods and 22-year-old June Guerry were last seen was found Tuesday near Cordesville.
The two women, who were friends, have not been seen since Sunday when they left a home in Pinopolis.
Woods' mother, Jennifer Hill, said she spoke to her daughter late Sunday night. She said she was told the two were heading to a McDonald's in Moncks Corner about 15 miles from St. Stephen.
An autopsy will be conducted Wednesday on the body found near the car. The remains haven't been identified.
