SANTEE, S.C. (AP) -- Authorities are trying to determine if a body found shot to death in a burned truck is that of an Orangeburg man reported missing.
Orangeburg County Chief Deputy Coroner Sean Fogle said an autopsy Tuesday determined the man had been shot in the head. Fogle says he has not positively identified the victim.
Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said Santee firefighters called deputies Monday night after finding a body in a vehicle that had been on fire.
Officials say an Orangeburg woman reported early Tuesday that her husband had not come home.
The burned vehicle was registered to the missing man.
