COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Bob Jones University is asking an outside Christian organization that deals with child abuse to investigate how the fundamentalist college has responded to abuse allegation in the past.
Trustees at the Christian university in Greenville agreed earlier this month to the investigation, which will also include recommendations on how to better deal with any future abuse allegations. The investigation will include Bob Jones Academy, which teaches students from preschool to 12th grade.
In a news release, school officials say the investigation was prompted by heart-breaking revelations of sexual abuse in both secular and Christian organizations. The school didn't respond to questions from The Associated Press on Tuesday.
The investigation will be handled by an organization called GRACE, which stands for Godly Response to Abuse in the Christian Environment.
