Attorney: Evidence shows SC teen may have run away

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- An attorney for a man charged in the disappearance of a Columbia teenager says evidence shows the girl ran away and wasn't kidnapped.

John Delgado says in court documents filed this week that deputies found evidence showing that Gabbiee Swainson had talked about sexuality with her mother.

Delgado says authorities ignored this evidence when asking a judge for a warrant to search Freddie Grant's home. Delgado wants the warrant voided.

Grant is accused of kidnapping Swainson, who was 15 years old when she disappeared Aug. 18. Authorities say DNA shows the two were together at Grant's home.

Grant is a convicted felon and also faces a federal ammunition charge for bullets and shotgun shells found at his home. He's expected in federal court on that charge later this week.
