ATLANTA (AP) -- Atlanta police are investigating the killing of a man who was shot through the windshield of his car.

Police say the shooting happened around 11:30 p.m. Monday, near St. James Drive and Lookout Avenue in northwest Atlanta.

Police tell WAGA-TV that they were responding to a "shots fired" call and found a male dead in the driver's seat of his Honda. Authorities say the bullets came through the windshield, and the victim appeared to have been the driver of the vehicle.

Police were canvassing the area early Tuesday morning.

The name of the person killed was not immediately released.
