NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. -- A 12-year-old who went missing from North Carolina is now believed to be in the Myrtle Beach area.
An Amber Alert was issued for 12-year-old Abigale Faith Lefevers on Monday after she went missing from Newport, N.C. She is a white female and is 5'4" with green eyes and brown shoulder-length hair.
The suspect is 38-year-old Timothy Howard Newman. Newman is said to have experience with boats and East Coast waterways, so the two could be on a boat along the South Carolina coast. He is also said to have truck driving experience, so he could be traveling along back roads to avoid major highways.
Newman is a white male and is 5'8" with brown eyes and short brown hair. The Associated Press is reporting that he is a registered sex offender.
The two are believed to be traveling in a red 1998 Chrysler Sebring with a black top. The car has North Carolina tag AKT6534.
