Abbeville volunteer SC firefighter charged with embezzlement

ABBEVILLE, S.C. (AP) -- A volunteer firefighter in Abbeville County has been charged with stealing money from the department.
Authorities say Jonathan Bedenbaugh was arrested Tuesday and charged with misconduct in office and embezzlement.
Deputies say Bedenbaugh was a volunteer firefighter who also served as treasurer for the Donalds Fire Department. He's accused of stealing about $14,000 between January 2011 and June 2012. Investigators say he used a department debit card to buy meals and clothing for himself.
It wasn't known if Bedenbaugh has an attorney.
