2 die in mobile home fire

Two people have died in a fire at a mobile home on Pepper Branch Road, off Storm Branch Road in Beech Island. The call came in at about 5:40 a.m.

Yolanda Heath, who lived at the mobile home, and Dennis Curry, who lived nearby and was apparently visiting, were both killed.

There's no word yet on how the fire started.

Fire at Aiken plant

A fire at the R.E. Phelon plant on University Parkway in Aiken this morning filled the building with smoke. Fortunately, there were no injuries.

The company makes small engine parts. There was a fire in a machine. It was put out quickly, but it has taken a long time for firefighters to clear the building of the smoke.

Man wanted in downtown shooting

Deputies are looking for 28-year-old Cornelius Wright, wanted for murder and possession of a gun during the commission of a crime.

Investigators believe Wright shot 22-year-old Mitchieano Carmichael at a mom and pop store in the 2000 block of Broad Street.

It happened around 9 o'clock Sunday night.

Carmichael died shortly after the shooting.

Wright was last seen driving a maroon 1987 Nissan Maxima with Georgia license number AJZ 8554. If you've seen him, contact the Richmond County Sheriff's Office.

Sexual predator wanted

Richmond County investigators need your help in finding a man they are calling a dangerous sexual predator.

37-year-old Tracy McGee is wanted for possession of child pornography and for unlawful eavesdropping and surveillance. McGee is believed to have fled to Burke or Jefferson County.

He's about 5' 2'' and weighs around 166 pounds.

2 teenagers killed in clay pit

Autopsies are scheduled today for two teenagers killed in a clay pit.

According to investigators, 15-year-old Joshua McLaughlin and 14-year-old Mathew Morris were found behind one of the boys' New Ellenton homes Sunday.

They had just come home from church and went to play. When they didn't return, Joshua's uncle went looking for them. That's when he found Joshua's body and called 911.

An hour later, Mathew was found.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

No word yet on funeral arrangements.

Stolen car found in pond

Investigators say a car found in a pond on Gordon Highway was dumped there after being stolen. Originally it was feared that someone might have been in the car, but now that seems not to have been the case.

Car filled with Christmas presents stolen

Christmas has been stolen for one Augusta family.

Vanessa Bustamante says her car was stolen Wednesday night from the Wal-Mart parking lot on Deans Bridge Road...along with all her presents in the trunk.

Wal-Mart's indoor police substation say they didn't see anything and nothing showed up on the surveillance cameras.
