The night of Friday, August 4, officers responded to a shooting in the Harrisburg area of Augusta.

That's very close to where a teenager was shot and killed the previous week.

News 12 spoke with a woman on the scene who claimed to be the cousin of a 14-year old male. She told us he was shot in the hand and taken to MCG.

He was released Saturday.

Two deputies were blocking off that portion of the road Friday and were not allowing anyone out of the house.

The incident occurred at 1853 Hicks Street, the house next door to where a standoff occurred last week.

Last Thursday, July 27, Richmond County SWAT team members surrounded the house next door for four hours following a drive-by shooting on Watkins Street.

However, this incident was no drive-by shooting. It appears to be the result of a young person either playing with a gun or being near someone who was irresponsible with one.
