3 hurt in blast that levels North Texas house

LEWISVILLE, Texas (AP) -- At least three men, including two firefighters, were hurt in an explosion that destroyed a home and scattered debris throughout a North Texas neighborhood.

Authorities are investigating what caused the blast Friday afternoon in Lewisville, about 20 miles northwest of Dallas.

Lewisville Assistant Fire Chief Brian Freed says officials are waiting for natural gas lines to be shut down before investigating if others might have been inside.

Freed says firefighters had been in the area earlier Friday after a gas leak was reported.

Atmos Energy spokeswoman Jennifer Ryan says workers are trying to shut down gas lines.

CeCe Clemens, a spokeswoman at Medical Center of Lewisville. says the two firefighters were in fair condition. The third man was in critical condition.
