JOHNS ISLAND, S.C. (AP) -- Investigators say three people and a dog have been found dead in a SUV found submerged in a creek near the Stono River in Charleston County.

Authorities said someone reported a wrecked vehicle in the creek near the state Highway 700 bridge on Johns Island around 7:45 a.m. Thursday.

Rescuers found three bodies in the vehicle. Dive teams have been called to search the water around the car.

The Charleston County Coroner's Office identified the victims as 50-year-old Don Dent, 35-year-old Mary Wesley Simmonds and 38-year-old Allyson Key. Autopsies found all of them drowned.

Investigators are still trying to figure out how the SUV ended up in the water.
