ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) -- If you are traveling along Interstate 26
for your Labor Day weekend getaway, you can take a safety rest
break at the eastbound rest stop in Orangeburg.
Sponsored by the South Carolina Department of Transportation and
other groups, the safety break allows motorists hitting the road
early to get off the highway and relax.
It will be held Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and while you are
stopped, you can get your tire pressure checked as well as maps and
information on highway safety.
The Transportation Department says the summer is the deadliest
time on South Carolina highways.
