Cross-examination of government witness Johnny Turner was the last thing jurors heard in court Friday before breaking for the weekend. Turner is the former CCSC employee and accountant who has already pled guilty to the crime of structuring payments to Linda Schrenko's campaign. Cross-examination of Turner continues Monday.
The court also heard an update on the status of Stephan Botes' home foreclosure. He apparently has five to ten days to rescue his home from foreclosure.
Botes and his business partner Peter Steyn, along with former state school superintendent Linda Schrenko, are facing dozens of counts of federal charges in an alleged scheme the government says was meant to funnel federal education dollars into her failing gubernatorial campaign.
