WASHINGTON (AP) -- Terrorists who don't fit the standard profile
are worrying national security officials.
Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff says
Western-looking terrorists are trying to enter the United States,
and there is no guarantee officials will catch them every time.
He says they're terrorists "who have legitimate Western
European passports, who don't appear to have records as
terrorists." He made the remarks today at his last scheduled
appearance before the House Homeland Security Committee.
Chertoff and other intelligence officials have delivered similar
warnings before, and he offered no new information today about
specific threats or an imminent attack.
