December 15, 2009: There has been an update since this story first aired on News 12 and was posted on wrdw.com. In March of 2009 Sam Lilly had his criminal charges expunged. Expungement is a legal process of having an arrest or conviction or plea agreement erased from a person’s criminal record. Because of that, Lilly no longer has a criminal record in this matter.

Richmond County investigators say they are wrapping up their investigation involving a T.W. Josey boys’ basketball coach.
Sam Lilly was named in an incident reported by a 17-year-old female student.
The student said Coach Lilly made sexual remarks and touched her.
The sheriff's office has handed over their investigation to the district attorney's office to decide if there is enough evidence.
For now, Coach Lilly remains on paid leave.
