At least one local judge has had all he can take of the delays. News 12 had the only reporter in his courtroom today and has the latest details on the Billy Cleveland case.
There is another delay in the Billy Cleveland case. He’s the former substitute teacher accused of eight counts of child molestation.
The start of another delay in the Billy Cleveland case. The trial was actually supposed to start on Monday, but the prosecuting team wasn’t even prepared for defense motions.
Delays are nothing new to the Cleveland case. The trial was initially supposed to start back in November and Cleveland entered his not guilty plea six months ago. He’s accused of inappropriately touching female students at Brookwood and Riverside Elementaries.
“I can’t go into anything because my attorney asked me not to,” Cleveland told News 12.
Because of the pre-trial publicity surrounding the case, his lawyer now wants a change of venue. It’s a motion he filed months ago, and it’s still waiting for action.
After more discussion, Judge Fleming set a date to hear that motion for a change of venue. Both parties reconvene this Thursday morning at 10.
