Only on 12…Former Greenbrier High School student-athlete Reggie Rice denied all sex charges in court Wednesday morning. News 12 has more on the latest legal move in the case involving former Greenbrier student-athlete Reggie Rice.

Judge Douglas Flanagan read all the charges, ranging from aggravated child molestation to rape.

Reggie Rice denies every charge at his first appearance as a juvenile. Judge Duncan Wheale moved his case down from superior court late last year.

"I think it would be more appropriate for one judge to make all the decisions," Judge Wheale said.

Judge Wheale also moved fellow defendant Shad Harris to juvenile court. His seat sat empty today because of a scheduling error. A sixteen-year-old boy and three underage girls also involved in this case have been in the juvenile system all along.

"i think it's kids doing what kids do," said Defense Attorney Jacques Hawk.

Hawk says the maximum of five years in juvenile fits these crimes better than the maximum of life that Rice could have faced for his rape charge.

"We don't want to throw them in the fire with adults who are molesting children," Hawk said.

Intake officer Rodney Brown says juvenile focuses more on helping kids fix their behavior.

"Rehabilitation in juvenile court is, in my experience, holding the kid accountable for their actions," Brown said.

Keeping kids accountable is exactly what judge Flanagan plans to do in about thirty days from now when the next hearing could be.

The case could go to trial, but defense attorneys say they hope to work out an agreement with the judge before it gets to that point. Shad Harris will have a chance to enter his plea in the next week or two.
