Allegations of inappropriate touching at a Richmond County elementary school have one mom crying foul. The mom says a boy touched her son in a bathroom at school, and she says school officials were slow to react.

The mom says her son told his teacher about the incident. And the mom says the teacher kept it quiet until she called the principal.

“The principal called me Tuesday night and said it wasn’t a big deal, just sweeped it under the rug. She thought it was just friendly touching between boys,” said the unidentified student’s mom.

But this mom says it was much more that innocent touching. She says it all started a couple weeks ago at Bayvale Elementary and continued over the next several days with three separate incidents.

“The little boy had touched him in the bathroom. He had went into the bathroom. He went into the bathroom and pushed him to the floor as he was using the urinal and began to play with his private area,” the mother said.

News 12 is not identifying the mom to protect her son’s identity. She says her second-grade son had good grades before the incident, A’s and B’s in all subjects like math, science, and health education. She says now her son is bringing home D’s and is scared to go to school.

“I had to actually go up to her and fight to get my son into a different class. I had to actually demand that he get put into a different class,” the mother said.

At this point, several questions remain for the Board of Education. Some questions News 12 asked spokeswoman Mechelle Jordan…Are any school officials under investigation? Were any policies for reporting potential abuse violated? And did anyone with the school system contact the Department of Family and Children Services?

Late Friday News 12 got a response from Mechelle Jordan. She says that Internal Affairs is currently investigating the incident, interviewing parents and school personnel to ensure that all educators acted appropriately and in a timely manner.
