AUGUSTA, Ga.---A local radio personality was just taken off the air and he may sue the station that gave him the boot. If so, it will be another lawsuit to add to his list.
Radio host Brian Doyle, known as Ryan B. is speaking out against his former radio station, Rejoice 94.7. The station let him go and he says they wanted him to take sides on issues he didn't agree with.
"I could not risk my integrity to the community that I love and respect," Doyle said.
Now saying he may take legal action, it's not the first time the controversial talk show host has been involved in a lawsuit.
There are five lawsuits open against him right now.
One case that's closed, at least for now, is one involving Richmond County Sheriff Ronnie Strength. He sued Ryan B. and Rejoice 94.7 in March of last year.
"When somebody comes out and accuses me of murder, I have a problem with that," Sheriff Strength said in March 2007.
In October a judge awarded the sheriff more than $6 million in damages for defamation of character.
Now his lawyer says they're trying to get their hands on that money.
"We are going to aggressively pursue collection of whatever we can," lawyer Freddie Sanders said.
After the court's ruling, the station and Ryan B. said they planned to appeal the decision.
Station owner Frank Neeley tried, but it didn't work.
Ryan B. has not yet filed his own appeal and the sheriff's lawyer says if he does, it probably won't work out for him either.
"He would have a very small likelihood of being successful," Sanders said.
Another case without success for Ryan B. was one involving radio personality Austin Rhodes.
The court awarded Rhodes more than a million dollars after he sued Ryan B. and Champ Walker for slander and defamation.
Freddie Sanders says as far as these latest troubles go, it's hard to say Ryan B. could do well.
"He hasn't been successful so far. I don't know why his chance of being successful would be increased any," Sanders said.
Ryan B. says he will join another radio station in the next 30 days, but did not mention which one.
