Hundreds of people showed up at Patriots Park Thursday hoping to find work at the new Target in Evans. And you still have two more days to drop off your resume.
Taketra Patterson is one of 2,000 people that managers expect to come out between Thursday and Saturday.
“I came to apply for a position at Target,” Patterson said.
Managers expect around 2,000 people to come out between Thursday and Saturday.
“A lot of people, a lot of response today,” said Fred Swindell, Target employee.
They will fill positions in every area, like cashiers, human resources, guest services, and even people to run the new Pizza Hut and Starbucks that will be in the store.
Team leader Anthony Childress says they will hire most of the people on the spot; some may have to come back for a follow-up interview.
“We’re just excited about being able to offer jobs to the citizens here in Evans,” Childress said.
Prospective employees watch a DVD about the company, fill out applications and go through a series of interviews. Management at Target says the construction is going well, and everything is one time. They hope to move their new inventory into the new building by September 1.
All of the new hires will start training once the new building is done. It will take about thirty tractor-trailers to fill up the store once it is ready.
The hours at Patriots Park are from 8am-6pm Friday and 9am-4pm Saturday. And 12 is on your side with directions to the job fair. Take I-20 to exit 190, take a right on Lewistown and a left on Columbia Road. The entrance to the park will be two miles on the right. Follow the signs with the big red bulls-eye.
