NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- Authorities are looking for a gunman who shot and wounded a man outside a Charleston-area shopping mall.
North Charleston Police spokesman Spencer Pryor says it happened in a parking lot outside Northwoods Mall about 12:30 p.m. on Monday.
Pryor says the wounded man told investigators he arrived at the mall to pick up someone he knew when a confrontation ensued between the two and shots were fired.
The wounded man was taken to the Medical University of South Carolina Hospital in serious condition with three gunshot wounds. His age was not immediately available.
Pryor says the gunman left the scene, possibility in a waiting vehicle.
But as a precaution, the mall was closed and was being searched to make sure the gunman did not enter the building.
