AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- When a crew of two photographers, one sound guy and a TV host run up to you randomly, you may fee like you are on an episode of the show "Cheaters."
"Sir, can we put you on TV?" said the show host as a guy walked away.
But it's not, "The Story Trek" TV show is about finding so-called ordinary people and discovering how interesting their life story is, but to find those folks, host Todd Hansen and his crew have to talk to a lot of people.
"Hi, can I bother you for a minute?" asked Hansen as a woman stopped to listen.
If you're thinking the stopped lady's life story is about the be part of the show, you're wrong, but she will help find one.
"We are with a show called 'The Story Trek' and what we do is randomly go around the country. What we are going to do is go where you made that dot [on our map]. We are going to start knocking on doors and the first person who agrees to be on the TV we are going to ask to have them tell us their story," Hansen said.
The show has been to Sandersville, Louisville, and on Friday, they wrapped up in Augusta.
"I don't have a story," said the woman who randomly answered the door knock.
Which only earned her, "That's what everybody tells us," from Hansen.
Nicole Brown says her life as a single mother of four isn't TV worthy, but Hansen quickly found out there's more to her story. The father of her kids died of an overdose, but Brown says she won't let that happen to them.
"I have to keep them on track, you know, school just started Monday," she told Hansen.
So, a simple and random knock on the door turned this "no story" into a story of mother trying her best, trying to keep her children from the life their father had and a life better than she can provide.
What's interesting about these stories is that they're all very different. Some talk about tough times and others just say what's on their mind. It will air in October on BYU-TV, which is available on several satellite and cable providers.
