ATLANTA (AP) -- One of the builders of IBM's Watson computer that's taking on two top "Jeopardy!" contestants will speak at Georgia Tech this week.
Alumnus Bill Murdock will talk about his role in making the machine as part of the DeepQA research team in IBM's Watson Research Center. The event is at 4 p.m. Thursday in the Klaus Advanced Computing building on the Atlanta campus.
Murdock has been working on the IBM Jeopardy! challenge since 2006. He got his Ph.D. in computer science from Georgia Tech in 2001.
The man vs. machine battle on "Jeopardy!" this week includes Brad Rutter, the show's all-time money-winner with $3.25 million, and Ken Jennings, who holds the longest winning streak with 74 episodes.
