Jessye Norman honored by President Obama

WASHINGTON---President Barack Obama presented the National Medal of Arts to Augusta native Jessye Norman for her outstanding achievements and support of the arts.

The president and first lady Michelle presented the award Monday at the White House.

Jessye Norman is a five time Grammy award winner. She also started the Jessye Norman School of the Arts which provides a free after-school program in music, writing, drama, dance, and graphic art of middle school students in Augusta.
