AUGUSTA, Ga.---Plans are in the works for a candlelight vigil in Augusta.Meanwhile, the Godfather of Soul's family is speaking out.

Michael Jackson grew up in front of our eyes. He inspiring a generation to believe we all could moon-walk.

"When I was watching him growing up," said local radio personality Miss Monique. "I wanted to be somebody because he was somebody."

Miss Monique cultivated her love of music rocking with Michael Jackson who is now dead at age 50.

"It makes me cry," said Miss Monique. "It's hard for me."

"He's a very nice person," said Deanna Brown Thomas. "He had a big heart."

Deanna remembers Michael's visit to Augusta to pay his respects to her father, James Brown. Michael called him "the master."

"He wanted to spend private time with the body," said Deanna. "That was alright with us."

Many of Jackson's signature moves were a variation of Augusta's native son.

"Michael studied dad and came and did it on a big scale," said Deanna.

"I got a chance to stand like maybe 5 feet from him," said Miss Monique. "That's when I got a picture."

"I doubt very seriously if you'll ever see another Michael Jackson or another James Brown," said Deanna.

Jackson spent his last rehearsing for a major concert.

"But I guess now his rehearsal was for something a bit more bigger," said Deanna.

There is a vigil set for Tuesday at 7 o'clock at the Augusta Common. Local bands will perform.
